| Two Yomut Chuvals | For practical reasons, the Turkmen always wove two chuvals at a time on a common warp, making them up into two separate bags later. In this item, two Yomut chuvals have been preserved as a pair. The brown-ground field shows nine primary güls and hooked diamonds as secondary motifs, a design that is comparatively rare in chuvals. The white-ground main border contains stepped polygons decorated with small triangles. A plain elem. – Well preserved pile, the kilim backs have survived. Slight signs of wear, small holes, several restored areas along the sides. | |
