| Hamid Kilim | This two-panel kilim was probably made in the region of what is now Isparta, and was still called Hamid in the 19th century, the period when the kilim was woven. The region is situated in the western part of the Taurus Mountains. Four large hexagons enclosing serrated diamonds have been placed along the central axis of a field woven in changing shades of red. They are embedded in a plethora of smaller ornaments, some of them embroidered in additional designs. The red ground colour and the design of the white-ground border are comparatively rare. The right-hand panel is longer than the left-hand one, resulting in misalignment of the symmetrically conceived design at the end. – The outer areas of the long sides and the upper and lower ends have been rewoven. Slight signs of age and wear. | |

| Zili Flatweave | In Anatolia, flatwoven rugs of this kind, with a ribbed surface, are named ‘zili’ for their specific technique. The example offered here was woven in one of the villages in the southern Taurus Mountains; its seemingly archaic design of large offset hexagons, each enclosing a small stepped polygon, is captivating. – Good condition, damage to the kilim at the lower end. | |

| Floral Carpet Fragment | This fragment of a floral carpet showing the Harshang design constitutes the lower right-hand corner of a carpet in kelleh format that was originally far larger, possibly measuring ca. 3 x 6 metres. Judging by the style of drawing of the designs and the balanced composition, the fragment is likely to date back as far as the 17th century. – Many old repairs, obvious signs of age and wear, very low pile for the most part. Backed with canvas. | |
