| Georgian Kilim | A coarsely woven Georgian kilim conceived in a horizontal format. The earth-brown field displays a large-format design drawn in brilliant colours, consisting of three flowerpots containing flowering branches that fill the upper section of the field. The publication by Wright and Wertime illustrates a comparative piece. The authors surmise that the example published in their book is an Armenian weaving made in the region of Tbilisi (Georgian capital). Produced for home use and thus rarely exported, such kilims served to cover benches or tables, and or as decorative wall hangings. – Good condition. | |

An almost identical Borjalou was exhibited at the 8th International Concerence on Oriental Carpets in Philadelphia in 1996. – Original selvedges along the sides, both ends somwehat reduced, several creases and repiled sections, low spots in the pile. | |
