Similar designs are found in older Caucasian silk embroideries. The black-ground border holds a geometric vine with abstract animals and flowers. Although greatly simplified, this composition is still in the tradition of much older precursors made in the 16th century, for instance the "Bellini" type. Use of designs based on traditional models is a characteristic phenomenon of the Bergama region. – Most of the corroded black sections have been rewoven, various restored areas in the field.
