| Ersari Trapping | The Ersari Turkmen produced a large number of carpets in a narrow and wide horizontal format. The absence of a back indicates that they were decorative hangings rather than bags. Called jollar, such pieces served various purposes. The light red field of this piece shows a section of a repeat of six large and eight small blossoms. – Original upper and lower finishes, cut sides. Well-preserved pile. | |

| Tekke Ensi | Of comparatively coarse weave, with a light palette and large, well-drawn designs, this door hanging by the Tekke tribe is an early example of its type, and was previously published in Turkoman Studies in 1980. The offset trees in the two elem panels are a rare feature. The same tree designs have been used in the wide surround of the hatchlu field; the lines of abstract insi kush birds seen in the latter are less closely spaced than in later ensis of the same field design. – Original sides and upper finish, somewhat reduced at the bottom. Very well preserved pile, several vertical creases. | |

| Tekke Chuval | This large Tekke chuval was on display in Munich as early as 1978. The chemche secondary designs are almost the same width as the 24 primary motifs. Judging by its very fine weave, richly detailed drawing and heavily patinated colours, this chuval is certainly a very old example. The elem design of 13 slim, imposing floral trees occurs in only a very few comparative pieces. – Obvious signs of age and wear, old repairs and inserted sections. The original sides have survived, but are damaged in places; somewhat reduced at the top. The kilim back is missing. | |
