Qashqa’i Kilim Lot: 242
Qashqa’i Kilim The entire field of this antique Qashqa’i kilim is covered by octagons containing small stars, arranged into horizontal rows of varying density and sequence around a white-ground box shape enclosing a red square. The composition is accentuated by white cotton sections, making this a very striking kilim of geometric design. – Several stains, small rewoven areas, in good overall condition.

Azeri Kilim A large Azeri kilim cover, woven in one piece in a visually impressive design. Horizontal stripes of varying width contain comb motifs in changing colours drawn with deeply serrated outlines. – Several stains and minor repairs, otherwise well preserved, with the original selvedges and braided warps at both ends.

Kurdish Rug Lot: 244
Kurdish Rug The blue-black field is covered in a dense repeat of angular botehs in shades of red, brown, yellow and olive, interspersed with two horizontal rows of small quadrupeds. The border consists of three stripes of identical width containing stepped polygons. A coarse weave and high pile. – Good condition, with the original finishes all around.

Shahsavan Kilim Lot: 245
Shahsavan Kilim Five sets of large, nested, serrated diamonds have been aligned along the central axis of the red abrashed field, which has a horizontal row of small hexagons at each end. The border is composed of reciprocal trefoils. Published twice before, this kilim, formerly in the Vok Collection, was woven by a Shahsavan tribal group in the Saveh region. Comparatively finely woven on a cotton warp, the item has a flexible handle. – Both sides rewoven, a hole at the top, signs of age and wear, stains.

Beshir Kelleh Lot: 247
Beshir Kelleh This Beshir woven in kelleh format is far too large for use in a Turkmen tent. It was either used in one of the houses of the winter quarters or produced on commission for an urban client. The field shows a chequerboard design outlined in thin, striped defining lines. Each square contains a stepped diamond surrounded by sections arranged in colour diagonals; all surfaces are covered in small blossoms. – Part of the original kilim finish survives at the top, original selvedges, slightly reduced lower end. Signs of heavy wear, low pile.

Tekke Mafrash A small Tekke tent bag with a cassette design of twelve compartments containing aina güls. A border showing small ibexes provides an outer finish surrounding the field and border area. The diamonds in the elem must be interpreted as the crowns of trees. – Good condition, a long decorative fringe at the bottom, the kilim back is missing.
