Chinese Kossu Fragment Lot: 251
Chinese Kossu Fragment Splendid Chinese silk kilims of this kind, with sections woven in gold thread, are called kossu or kesi. This small fragment of a dragon design once belonged to a decorative hanging placed over the backrest of one of the high chairs. – Several holes, backed with canvas.

Lesghi Lot: 252
Lesghi A brown-ground Daghestan rug displaying six Lesghi stars in the field, embedded in a hermetically dense design of octagons and flowers. The wide, white-ground main border shows the so-called crab design. The many small crosses seen in the long sides of the border are a rare feature. – The brown-black ground of the field is corroded. Very good overall condition, with the original finishes all around.

Shahsavan Kilim Mafrash A side panel of a Shahsavan mafrash produced by a tribal group in the Mianeh region. The midnight blue field shows two rows of abstract birds stylised to ‘S’-forms, while the white-ground border contains tree designs. – Well preserved.

Genje Prayer Rug Lot: 254
Genje Prayer Rug At first glance, this prayer rug in an elongated format appears to belong to the Akstafa group, but the palette and knotting structure suggest it was probably made in the Genje region. The midnight blue field contains a dense repeat of flatly drawn, geometric, stylised botehs enclosing small flowers, botehs or stepped polygons. Along the sides of the field, the weaver has inserted small animals wherever the design layout left free spaces. The lower horizontal band of the white-ground main border differs from the border above in that it shows a frieze of four-legged animals. – New overcasting along the sides, the kilim finishes have been preserved at the top and bottom. Uniformly low pile.

Yomut Chuval A red-ground Yomut chuval of rare design. In the field, the primary design consists of 16 hooked stepped polygons interspersed with large diamonds. Five geometric, stylised trees with sprawling branches adorn the elem. – Cut and newly overcast sides, reduced upper and lower finishes, low pile, several repairs. The back is missing.

Yomut Torba A rare Yomut torba presenting nine güls and chemche secondary motifs on a brown-red field. Yomut Main Carpet An early Yomut main carpet showing a design of three rows of dyrnak güls and rare, cruciform secondary motifs, an unusually narrow syrga main border and two elems of divergent design. The small format is an indication of great age. First-rate, brilliant colours, glossy pile wool. – Damage due to age, creases, both ends somewhat reduced.

Rollakan Agedyna Lot: 259
Rollakan Agedyna A long-standing independent weaving tradition existed on the farms of South Sweden, where a wealth of different textiles was produced for home use. Woven in rollakan (double weft interlocking) technique, this cushion was originally stuffed with sea grass and placed on the carriage seat during Sunday outings to the church, the only event that offered a diversion from the busy working week. A lattice of red lines covers the blue-black face, with integrated offset diamond-shaped compartments containing female figures in the outer rows and sets of four small diamonds in the central row. The back is patterned in horizontal stripes. – Signs of age and wear.

Flamskäv Agedyna Fragment Lot: 260
Flamskäv Agedyna Fragment The brown-black ground displays a round, royal blue medallion drawn with a floral outline and enclosing a jumping red lion seen in side view. Flowers and twigs frame the medallion like a wreath. Woven in flamskäv technique, this piece probably constitutes only one half of a carriage cushion. – Good condition.
