| Tekke Kapunuk | Such Turkmen trappings, called kapunuk or kaplyk, are shaped like khalyks, with a horizontal centre panel and two arms of identical width extending downwards at right angles, but they are considerably larger. Traditionally, kapunuks were hung across the interior door frame of the tent during wedding ceremonies. This example, with a curled leaf design, is a Tekke weaving. In some Tekke kapunuks, the lower finish of the arms runs in a straight line, but here they end in triangular points. – Slight signs of wear, both upper corners restored, a repair to the inside of the lower left-hand corner. | |
