| Shahsavan Animal Trapping | On certain occasions, the Shahsavan nomads adorned their mounts and pack animals with colourful decorative bands woven specifically for this purpose. Made for families’ own use, only a small number of such textiles have survived. Judging by its dimensions, this splendid band, finely woven in sumakh technique and with a diamond design in excellent colours, was a camel chest band. When the band was placed around the camel’s chest, the long plaits wrapped in multicoloured yarn and attached to the left and right would have hung before the animal’s legs and moved with every step it took. – Very well preserved. | |
