Khamseh The white field of this Khamseh, probably made in a village workshop, is densely covered with huge botehs, arranged diagonally and containing smaller botehs (mother and child type). The midnight blue border has botehs and horizontal cypresses linked by a vine. Often used by the Afshars, this design goes back to Khorasan models (see Holt). An expressive carpet in brilliant colours, with rounded forms and a lively drawing that are closer to its models than other examples of this type. – Several rewoven areas, creases, slight signs of age. Sides newly overcast, remnants of the striped kilim finishes have survived.
