| Heriz | Heriz carpets of excellent quality rarely come onto the market these days. This expressive Heriz, with a fine and careful weave, a pile of Maku wool and clear, brilliant colours, stands out distinctly from the mass-produced carpets of the region, which have survived in large numbers. – Somewhat reduced ends, minimal repairs, very good condition. | |

| Shakhrisyabz Suzani | An extremely rare Suzani whose lively tree design, reminiscent of fairytales, was embroidered on a ground of black velvet in brilliantly diverse, almost jazzy colours. In the border, the large fan-shaped palmettes with feathered outlines, alternatively pointing inwards and outwards and framed by a wide ring, are particularly striking. This Suzani was probably made by the Lakai nomads in the Shakhrisyabz area. – Somewhat stained, otherwise very well preserved. The edges have been backed with ikat fabric, the striped cotton fabric on the reverse is torn. | |

| Tashkent Suzani | An Uzbek silk embroidery in five panels decorated with the paliak design. The field is filled by six huge, purple circles, surrounded by one dark green and one yellow wreath of leaves and integrated into a compartment design of dark green bands. In this type, the cotton ground is almost entirely embroidered. The border shows fan-shaped poppy blossoms. – Minimal signs of wear, good condition. | |

| Ersari | The square format of this rare Ersari carpet raises the question of its original purpose. The striped kilims preserved at the top and bottom prove that the carpet cannot have been a bag face, but was probably used as a sitting mat. – Slight signs of wear, in good overall condition. | |

| Ersari Ensi | Judging by its dimensions, this antique door hanging was used in a house rather than a tent. It is particularly well executed, with several design details woven in silk. The style of the tile design, here with more compartments than is usual in this type, appears to be influenced by Uzbek ikat fabrics. – Sides cut and later overcast. Original upper kilim finish (folded back and stitched to the reverse), somewhat reduced at the bottom. Slight signs of wear in the pile. | |

| Sevan Kazak | This Sevan Kazak with a huge, green-ground shield medallion on a red field and a wide, white-ground crab border appeals because of the impact of its composition and the first rate quality of its colours. A comparable Kazak was sold by Sotheby's, London, in 2005. – Cut and newly overcast sides, both ends somewhat reduced. Several creases, heavily corroded brown. | |

| Kuba | A blue-ground Kuba with a rare design of abstract animal shapes enclosing small birds. At the top right, one of these forms is inscribed with a date, "1325" (1908 AD). A green-ground main border with a white pseudo kufi vine, two guard stripes containing halved diamonds, and a carnation border complete the picture. – Original side and end finishes (kilims), various small restored creases, good overall condition. | |

| Tapestry | Very finely woven, this pictorial wool and silk tapestry was produced in one of the Aubusson workshops ca. 1830. Its theme is the game of “Blind Man’s Buff” (Jouer à collin maillard), a popular subject in 18th century French paintings, here translated into the textile medium. The weavers appear to have modelled the tapestry on a painting by Nicolas Lancret (1690 - 1743), a printed reproduction of which was widely available. While the park landscape, the outside staircase before which the six players are enjoying their game, and the border frame have been executed in a somewhat schematic and flat manner, the group of figures stands out for its three-dimensional mode of representation and faithfulness to detail, with rich effects of light and shadow on their garments and finely drawn faces reminiscent of china. – Completely preserved, in good condition. The internal stitching is coming undone in several places as the silk yarn has become brittle over time. | |

| Kurdish Divan Cover | The design of this Kurdish carpet – a dense repeat of nested diamonds in various colour variations – is reminiscent of pieces by the Jaff or Sanjabi tribes in western Iran. However, the palette and border design show that this rare piece was made by Kurds in eastern Anatolia, possibly in the surroundings of Sivas. The carpet was used as a bench (divan) cover, for which reason it was woven without a border on the left-hand side, where it bordered the wall of the house. – Rewoven corners, reselvedged, heavily corroded brown, small repairs. | |

| Bokhara Suzani | An extremely beautiful Suzani from Bokhara whose importance can be established from the confident and masterful execution of its complex design, the high quality of its embroidery and colours, and the rich detail of its ornamentation. Previously unpublished, this piece has been in a French private collection since the late 19th century. – Very well preserved except for a few stains, not backed with fabric. | |
