Caucasian Prayer Rug Lot: 65
Caucasian Prayer Rug This rare prayer rug, the work of a Cirkassian weaver, was made in a village in the surroundings of Batum. To date little is known, or has been published, about the work of the Cirkassians, a group that has lived in Transcaucasia for a long time. – Uniformly low pile, restored sides and ends.

Kazak Lot: 67
Kazak Kazaks with large botehs in a composition of wide diagonal stripes are rather rare. This design is more often seen in the Genje region. However, the knotting structure, palette and typically high pile are clear indicators of a provenance in the Kazak region. – Both end finishes have been expertly repiled. Original selvedges, full pile preserved.

Silk Kilim This rare flatweave from Japan, a textile painting, has been very finely woven from silk, with details picked out in gold thread. In the lower half of the picture, seven people are represented against a backdrop of a dramatic landscape; they are engaged in a board game, in drawing and making music. – Corroded black sections, several holes, tears, stains, signs of age and wear.

Baluch Bag Face Lot: 84
Baluch Bag Face This face of a khorjin, pile-woven in dark colours, shows a design of birds on a blue-black ground, framed by a tree border, that was popular with the Baluch, with many extant examples. The white bird in the field is an eye-catcher. A beautiful collector´s piece. – Reduced ends, cut sides, replaced cords. A stitched tear at the bottom.
