  1. Theodor Poppmeier Collection: Our First Sale on 10th March 2018

“Art before craftsmanship and quality before condition” was the principle which guided Theodor Poppmeier when he compiled his important collection of antique textiles. The great success of our special auction, “Poppmeier Collection I” proves the soundness of his approach. The auction sold 83 of the 88 lots offered, a success rate of 94 percent. Part two of the collection will follow in the spring of 2019.

  2. The Vok Collection – Third Sale on 25th March 2017

Our reception on the eve of the third Vok Sale was attended by many distinguished guests both from Germany and abroad. They were in for a surprise: Mr Bruce Baganz, Chairman of the Near Eastern Art Research Center, presented Dr Ignazio Vok and Detlef Maltzahn with the “Joseph V. McMullan Award for Scholarship and Stewardship in Islamic Rugs and Textiles“. Considered the greatest accolade in the world of Oriental carpets and textiles, the McMullan Award has been presented since 1988 to persons who have gained distinction and merit through special contributions in the field. The international group of recipients includes people from the USA, Canada, the UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Iran, Turkey and Russia.

  3. The Vok Collection – Second Sale on 12th March 2016

The Collection had been divided into three equivalent sections for auction. Deviating from the collector’s own four themed publications, our compilation has resulted in a new presentation rich in contrast which shows the collection in an entirely new light. Developed specially for the three Vok auctions, our catalogue format was very well received and seen to be an adequate representation of this peerless collection. Whereas the first catalogue opened with an homage to the collector as a person, the second catalogue contained an instructive article by Christian Erber on the technical aspects of suzanis.

  4. New Auction Schedule for 2015/2016

After careful consideration we have decided not to hold any further auctions in 2015. This means that we will cancel our traditional “Major Autumn Auction”, due on 21st November 2015 as per our schedule published early this year, and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Consignments for the November auction will be offered at our May auction in 2016. more
  5. Spring Auction A 87 on 13th June 2015

Due to the fact that we scheduled two catalogue auctions in the spring, our regular Major Spring Auction was postponed from May to June. The time-consuming preparations for the first Vok sale in April obliged us to change the date. more
